Tiare (flowers) of Rarotonga

The night we arrived on Rarotonga we were greeted with beautiful neck ei’s (necklaces) made of fragrant flowers the moment we stepped off the plane. It was at that moment I fell in love with the flowers, ‘tiare’ in Maori, of this island. Being a tropical island, there are flowers in abundance at all times of the year.

We are now entering the spring here on Raro, and apparently closer to November the trees will all shed their leaves and then flowers will burst out, making this whole island one giant garden of paradise! I can’t wait!

Here’s a few pictures of some flowers I’ve picked from around the house. I wish I could transport the smell of them, especially the orange blossom and Tahitian gardenia.
